“Given today’s global uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are pleased to see that our hotels in Latvia and across Europe will not be empty. Estonia is dominated by guests from Russia, Finland and Latvia, ”comments Vadim Muhin, owner of Mogotel Hotel Group.
Speaking about the past year in the tourism industry in Latvia and all the Baltic countries, Mogotel highlights a positive trend – domestic tourism is growing. More often than before the pandemic, tourists from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia choose local hotels or accommodation in neighboring countries. This stimulates more active development of tourism infrastructure and an increase in the number of offers. Thus, seven Mogotel hotels will be opened in Latvia in December 2021, compared to only two a year ago.
“As stricter restrictions return to Europe due to the rapid spread of the omicron, the total number of tourists from Europe will be lower than in previous months. In turn, the share of travelers from the Baltic States and the number of local tourists is unlikely to change. In addition, the overall dynamics will be significantly affected by the increase in electricity and gas prices in Europe, as a result of which the prices of tourism services will increase, ”Jelena Stirna, Executive Director of Mogotel Hotel Group, forecasts the development of the tourism industry in the first quarter of 2022.
