The last role for Jan Pohan

Currently, Modrava Police is number one on Sunday and Tuesday broadcasts. Already when she ran for the first time, she enjoyed great interest from the audience. On average, 2.188 million viewers watched each episode. During the holidays, around a million viewers will sit in front of the screens.

It was filmed in the villages of Horská Kvilda, Kvilda, Modrava, in the Kašperské hory or in Srní. The first episode was filmed at Vogelsand Ranch. But the pilot episode was even broadcast in October 2011 as a separate TV movie. It was seen by over 1.7 million viewers.

The series was the last role of Jan Pohan, who died two weeks before the premiere of the series. He also starred in the series Wild Land, Criminal Angel, Hospital on the outskirts of the city – new destiniesThe Necklace or The Cases of Second Lieutenant Hanika.

Major Majsner’s Bozenka had the promised role

For several characters, the actual inhabitants of the Šumava were even a prototype. For example, Emil Kintzl is a real person. He worked as a teacher in Kašperské Hory, but in the TV series he was portrayed by actor Ladislav Mrkvička. The real Emil Kintzl himself appeared in the series only anonymously as an extra.

The series was also a great chance to get on the screens again Petru Martincovou, which viewers may remember from the Once Upon a Cop trilogy. The director was Jaroslav Soukup, who is Petřina’s husband today and who also directed Modrava Police and wrote the screenplay for it.

Love with the director had its consequences

It must have been his wife who gave him the idea to write something about the mountains. However, she originally thought of the series Doctor from the Mountains. She wanted to play somewhere again. “When the journalists, or rather the directors, found out that I live with director Soukup, they stopped casting me. One day I decided to cut it. I went in the direction of tourism, so I actually had to change my whole life,” she admitted.

But the television wanted a detective story, these tend to be successful with viewers. Thus, she was out of the role, because she was not suitable for an investigator. She finally made it to the series in the fourth series as a nurse.

Hundreds of thousands fell for the third series

In addition to the returnee Martincová, hockey player David Pospíšil also appeared in the series. It was the first ever Czech series where a professional hockey player played. For a long time, Soukup could not figure out who would play him as the chief of the Šumava Mountain Service. His choice was very surprising to some.

It is also not without interest that the filming was made difficult by the omnipresent mosquitoes that followed the light during the night scenes. They attacked the filmmakers and actors so much that in the end the production had to provide boxes full of mosquito sprays in order to be able to shoot at all. In the end, the actors are probably happy, because they got a nice package. Only in the third series, Filip Tomsa received a fee of CZK 650,000 for the role of lieutenant Kamil Sedláček. Zdeněk Palusga received a fee of CZK 300,000. Soňa Norisová received a fee of CZK 700,000.

The series, which Nova was initially reluctant to film due to the difficulty of commuting to Šumava, so she looked for alternatives to make it cheaper, is ultimately good perhaps precisely because it is authentic and filmed directly in the environment it tells about. And that is actually unique here.
