JAKARTA – The number of car users found on urban streets make changes or modifications to the vehicle number so that the appearance of the car looks neater.
This is because people do not like the original font of the vehicle number plates issued by the Polda Metro Jaya. So that people make modifications to make it look neat and different from other vehicles.

However, this cannot be done haphazardly. This is because there are laws and regulations that prohibit modifying vehicle plate numbers.
The rules regarding vehicle number plates have been written in Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ) Article 68 and the sanctions have also been set, namely a maximum imprisonment of 2 months and a maximum fine of Rp. 500,000.
In the regulation, it is written that the vehicle number plate may not be modified, such as changing the shape, color, writing, or affixed with an unofficial sticker or logo.
Therefore, vehicle license plates have their own rules and all refer to the specifications issued by the Police.
If there is someone who modifies the number plate that is not appropriate then this is a traffic violation.

The following is quoted from several sources, there are as many as seven rules for modifying vehicle number plates that can violate statutory regulations:
1. TNKB numbers whose letters are arranged/numbers are directed backwards so that the name can be read.
2. TNKB whose letters are changed like digital letters.
3. TNKB affixed with stickers/logos/symbols of unity/agencies made of plastic/metal/brass as if they were official (unofficial).
4. TNKB letters and numbers are italicized and embossed.
5. The size of the TNKB is not up to standard (too big or too small).
6. Disguise the color of the TNKB letters and numbers so that they are difficult to read.
7. Change the color of TNKB or covered with mica so as to cause the color to change.
