Speaker Donald Trump (74) has left Washington with his wife Melania (50) practically in silence. The farewell party, to which he himself had invited on the Andrews military airfield, was only framed by a few gunshots, old 80s hits from the can and a few calls from the last fans. After just 15 minutes, the farewell ceremony for the 45th President was over – and Trump was history.

In a short speech he patted himself again on the shoulder: “What we have done is amazing in every way,” he said. He praised the economy and its own vaccine, which was developed within just nine months.

He promised his followers that he would always fight for them. He will watch and listen to what will happen. «You are incredible, this is a big, big country. It was a privilege to have been your president. “

“YMCA” ran as farewell
Trump traveled with delicate luggage: because he did not want to meet Biden directly, he took the “Nuclear Football”, the suitcase with the atomic bomb start codes, with him. However, the codes on the card were deactivated at exactly 12 noon. At the same time, Biden was given a new card with the codes and a new “football”.

The presidential helicopter Marine One had previously picked up the Trumps at the White House and – after a farewell round over Washington – brought them to the airfield.

Trump had announced days ago that he would not take part in the handover and would leave Washington in the morning. About his own celebration he had spoken in advance of an occasion with military honors. Nothing came of it. Not even a military band played. Instead, old disco hits like “Gloria” by Laura Branigan and “YMCA” by the Village People rattled out of the loudspeakers.

Friends did not come to say goodbye
Many of his friends had abandoned him and canceled their participation in the celebration, including ex-chief of staff John Kelly (70) and ex-legal advisor Don McGahn (52). According to CNN, junior helpers (who never had anything to do with Trump) were invited to add to the guest list.

When the Sinatra hit “My Way” rang out from the speakers, Air Force One took off for Florida with the outgoing presidential couple. It was Trump’s last flight on the presidential plane. The most powerful man in the world is now a simple retiree.
