The Italian automaker Lamborghini is working on modernizing the Urus SUV. It has not yet been presented to the public, or at least not without camouflage, but it already holds the record for a production SUV at the most famous mountain race in the world – Pikes Peak.
–
How can the record be valid for a production SUV when this particular car is not yet in series production? It will be soon, so let’s squint a little. Even above the protective cage that is inside the car – it will certainly not be installed in urus for customers, just like the fire extinguisher system, six-point seat belts or racing seat. However, these elements require Pikes Peak rules.

The Urus in the hands of racer and test pilot Simon Faggioli managed the 20-kilometer uphill race route, which starts at an altitude of 2,862 m and ends at 4,302 meters, in 10:32.06. This is 17 seconds faster than the previous record held by the Bentley Bentayga.

The time was measured by the official timers of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, so there is little doubt about its authenticity, although the automaker itself boasts about it in a press release.

It is not yet known what the exact parameters of the car are. It should be revealed later this month, but we can guess that the eight-cylinder under the hood will give more than the 650 hp and 850 Nm of the previous version.
