Modernization of Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont – Minister Chantal Rouleau announces several projects

MONTRÉAL, June 16, 2022 /CNW/ – The Minister for Transport and Minister Responsible for Greater Montréal and the Montreal Region, Chantal Roll, announces, on behalf of the Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, several projects surrounding the modernization of Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, particularly in oncology and nuclear medicine. With these projects, the Government of Quebec is taking an additional step to make the east end of Montreal a major health center for the benefit of the population and the influence of the metropolis.

Among the projects announced, let us mention the expansion of the ambulatory care center in cancerology, which will consolidate the offer of ambulatory services in concentrated cancerology at the Center de services ambulatoires (CSA) of the hospital. The nuclear medicine department will also benefit from modernization in order to ensure that it remains a reference and an ally of the axis of excellence in oncology.

The Minister also took the opportunity to announce that the Government of Quebec has confirmed its participation in the Urgence d’agir strategy by granting an exceptional envelope of $24.5 million to make up for the shortfall in the Centerintegré universitaire de health and social services of the East-of-the-Island-of-Montreal (CIUSSS). This strategy was developed to modernize dilapidated infrastructure that has become inadequate and ensure a safe transition of care and services pending the opening of Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, whose renovation and expansion have been announced by the government. of Quebec in August 2021.

It should be noted that Urgence d’agir includes projects that will meet the standards in their respective fields, thus greatly reducing the risk of service disruptions. Among the projects concerning Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, let us note:

  • the relocation of nuclear medicine, which will be carried out in the fall of 2023;
  • bringing the animal facility up to standard, which will be completed by spring 2023;
  • the transition of the mother-child sector, the work of which will be completed next spring;
  • the upgrade of the medical devices reprocessing unit (URDM), which has just been completed;
  • bringing the laboratories up to standard, which will be completed by fall 2023;
  • the addition of critical care beds, expected by early 2023.
