A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Sentinella group, one of the major players in animal production in Brazil, and the municipalities of Mbalmayo; Tiko; Buea; Menji and Edea. It is within the framework of cooperation between Cameroon and Brazil. This memorandum signed between Brazil and these municipalities will make it possible to set up a common platform for collaboration, with a view to the implementation of several projects.

The initiative falls within the framework of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Society for the Development and Exploitation of Animal Productions (Sodepa) and the University Institute of Paraíba in Brazil. It was during the 6th edition of the Cameroonian Economic and Cultural Days, held recently in Rio Grande do Sul.

In the city of Edéa, for example, there are plans to set up a cattle park and create a one-stop shop to control cattle activity in the city, whether it be resident livestock or which transits within the framework of transhumance. Sodepa and the commune of Mbalmayo have also agreed in principle to set up a cattle market in the town.

As for the MoU between Cameroon and Brazil, the objective was to benefit from the Brazilian experience in animal production, feed, fattening, transformation of cattle waste into energy and fertilizers, slaughter and/or export. Through this approach, Sodepa wants to professionalize breeding and in Cameroon and have competent human resources for the benefit of three fattening centers being created, in the localities of Ndokayo (East); Faro (Adamaoua) and Jakiri/Dumbo (North-West).

Still within the framework of cooperation between the two countries, in November 2023, experts from the Federal University of Paraíba will stay in Cameroon to lead a training seminar on artificial insemination and cattle fattening techniques.
