Moderna’s vaccine reaches City staff – Telemundo El Paso (48)

The City of El Paso has received 2,400 Modern vaccines as part of the Phase 1 distribution for those most at risk of contracting

COVID-19, including first responders and health care personnel who are essential to keeping the community health care system operational.

Moderna’s vaccine shipment contains 900 doses for emergency personnel and 1,500 for healthcare workers, including clinical staff, 91, residents and staff of long-term care centers, urgent / community clinics, and school nurses.

The City has begun distributing available doses to priority groups, including first responders, prioritizing those on the immediate front lines of the pandemic response and at high risk of being exposed to COVID-19.

These groups include personnel at test sites, deployment teams, and vaccination clinics. The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has recently determined the next priority group for the COVID-19 vaccine (Phase 1, Group B): people 65 years of age or older and people 16 years of age or older with at least one chronic illness.

Since last night, DSHS has given communities the discretion to rotate Groups 1A and 1B to ensure vaccines are used immediately and additional assignments are followed quickly.

People who are part of either group can pre-register for the vaccine by clicking this link epstrong.org and submitting the pre-registration form.

Once pre-registered, residents will be notified of vaccine availability and provided the next steps.
