Moderna vaccine: the first doses arrived in Canada

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Thursday the arrival in the country of the first doses of Moderna’s vaccine against COVID-19, the day after their authorization by Health Canada.

“They are part of the 168,000 doses that we will receive by the end of the month and the 40 million doses that we have reserved from Moderna in total,” the Prime Minister said on Twitter.

“This is another big step in the rollout of the vaccine across the country,” Trudeau added.

In addition, the Prime Minister took the opportunity to reiterate the importance of not “letting our guard down”.

“The vaccine will be useless if you get sick today,” he pleaded. Wear the mask, wash your hands, avoid gatherings and use [l’application] #AlerteCOVID. “

Recall that Health Canada approved a second vaccine against COVID-19 on Wednesday, which will allow the country to receive 1.2 million doses in total by the end of January.

This second vaccine is easier to transport, store and handle than that of Pfizer since it can be stored for 30 days at temperatures between 2 and 8 ° C.

It should be noted that the two vaccines must be administered in two doses. Those of Pfizer, must be spaced 21 days and those of Moderna, 28 days.
