Pharmaceutical business Moderna is suing Pfizer and BioNTech for patent infringement on the COVID-19 vaccine. Moderna accused Pfizer of copying the technologies that Moderna created several years right before the pandemic.
Quoted by Reuters, the lawsuit was filed in Massachusetts with an undisclosed volume of damages. The lawsuit will also be filed in Duesseldorf, Germany.
“We have filed a lawsuit to shield the revolutionary mRNA technological innovation system we developed, with a billion dollar investment decision in manufacturing, patented in the 10 years before the COVID-19 pandemic,” claimed Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel in a push launch.

Moderna and the Pfizer-BioNTech partnership were being the initially two builders of a COVID-19 vaccine. The U.S. Foods and Drug Administration (Fda) granted an Unexpected emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in December 2020, then to Moderna a 7 days afterwards.
In response to this lawsuit, Pfizer is assured in its mental assets and will defend alone in opposition to Moderna’s allegations.
