Vaccination Covid-19 : The recent study shows that antibody levels in Moderna vaccine recipients were comparatively higher than in Pfizer vaccine recipients. The results were published recently in the JAMA Network Open and the study was carried out by researchers at the University of Virginia School of Medicine on the antibody response generated by the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Scientists also noted that antibody numbers should not be taken as the basis for vaccine effectiveness, as cited in the press release issued by the University of Virginia. Although both vaccines have shown phenomenal performance, the new findings are important because they will help determine whether one vaccine is superior to the other in certain areas.

In the study, blood samples were received from 167 University employees who were vaccinated against covid 19. Of these, 79 received Pfizer while 88 received the Moderna vaccine. The researchers, overall, found that Moderna produced more antibodies in the blood after receiving the second dose than Pfizer. While Moderna produced around 68.5 micrograms of antibody per milliliter of blood, Pfizer produced only 45.9 micrograms per milliliter of blood.

A similar study comparing the immune response of the two vaccines – Moderna and Pfizer showed that two doses of Moderna vaccine produce more antibodies than those who are fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine. Both vaccines use mRNA technology and are widely used in several countries. The results were published in a letter to the Journal of the American Medical Association on August 30.

The study showed that those who became infected with the virus when inoculated with Moderna vaccine produced an antibody response of 2,881 units / ml and an antibody response of only 108 units / m when have received Pfizer. Even among those who were previously infected with COVID, when they received an injection of Moderna, they showed a higher presence of antibodies than those who received the Pfizer vaccine.
