CIANJURTODAY.COM, Cianjur – Spokesperson for the Cianjur Regency Covid-19 Information Center, Dr. Yusman Faisal, said that the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines in Cianjur are now approaching their expiration date.
According to him, the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines will expire on October 25, 2021. Given that Cianjur only gets reallocation from other regions.
“If Pfizer has indeed sent it in liquid form and there are 15 days remaining from the expiration date,” Yusman said to Cianjur. Today, Wednesday (13/10/2021).
According to him, Cianjur Regency received a reallocation of 30 thousand Pfizer vaccines from Bandung Regency. Given that Pfizer’s vaccine is already 15 days old, there is still one more week left before its expiration date.
“Therefore, at this time for dose one, we are trying to direct it to Pfizer or Moderna. Because I’m worried, it’s expired because there are only seven days left,” he said.
Meanwhile, other vaccines, such as Sinovac, continued Yusman, can still be used because they can last from six months to two years.
“If Sinovac still has a long expiration date, starting in 2022 it has expired,” he said.
Currently, Cianjur Regency has a stock of 150 thousand Sinovac vaccines, 30 thousand Pfizer vaccines, and 1,000 Moderna vaccines. Yusman said that he had submitted another 500 thousand vaccines to the Central Government, but no follow-up had been made.
“The government wants to provide 225,000 through the province, but that hasn’t just been reallocated,” he said.
However, Yusman admitted that he did not know for sure whether the reallocation of vaccines given by other regions to Cianjur was included in the calculation of the central allocation or not.
“Because it’s already in liquid form and the expiration date is October 25, 2021. I hope it doesn’t count,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Cianjur Health Service (Dinkes), Dr. Irvan Nur Fauzy, explained that the Covid-19 vaccine was still safe to use even though it was nearing its expiration date.
“Safe, the principle before it expires will be given directly to the community,” he said.
Separately, the Regent of Cianjur, Herman Suherman, said he would invite various parties to achieve the Cianjur herd immunity target.
“Because to achieve 70 percent herd immunity and enter PPKM Level 1, we need 50,000 vaccinations per day for the next few days,” he said during a gathering with Banking in the Garuda Room, Cianjur Pendopo.
Herman said, starting from Bumi Nini, GGM, Scout Building, Polres, Kodim 0608, hospitals, 47 health centers, mobile cars, and 32 sub-districts participated in carrying out vaccinations.
“We have obtained the latest vaccine stock at this time and are working with vaccinators from Akbid Cianjur and outside Cianjur. Including if the bank vaccinates, it must immediately report it to the Health Office,” he explained.
“Let’s support together to pursue the target of 50,000 vaccinations over the next 10 days in order to reach PPKM Level 1,” he said.(afs/sis)
