The massively redesigned user interface in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is very different from previous games in the series, and according to a large number of players, not for the better.
According to players, some playlists and multiplayer modes are easy to miss due to Modern Warfare 2’s poor menu organization. The new top menu has several sections that you can switch between, including Game, Weapons, Operators, Combat Pass “and “Shop.” This is fairly common in Call of Duty, but when you get to these sections, it’s easy to get confused. Instead of simple lists, the game modes are represented by large images stacked on top of each other. It feels more like a streaming service menu to you than a game menu, you’re not alone, and that’s because former Hulu streaming service UI designers have reportedly worked on it.
Here’s what a Reddit user writes:
To do something, you have to press five different buttons. I couldn’t even find my friend when his name was right in front of my eyes because there were so many different elements on the screen.
The official release of Modern Warfare 2 took place today, and despite the non-controversial interface, the new game has already managed to beat all other parts of the series on Steam in terms of the number of active players. Read the details here.
