Modern Austrian cuisine gets another star in New York – Rolling Pin

The Michelin Guide 2020 for New York City and Westchester County was published yesterday. Two new restaurants in the 2-star category and eight new one-star restaurants are on the list. The Wallsé is one of the award-winning restaurants: Michelin honored the Austrian chef Kurt Gutenbrunner and his “modern Austrian cuisine”.

Kurt Gutenbrunner has received a star for his New York restaurant Wallsé for the 15th time in a row.

New York, New York

“As an international gastronomy and tourism destination, New York City continues to lead the world thanks to its rich variety of cuisines, talent and experienced chefs,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide. “This year’s selection of 76 star restaurants offers guests a range of distinctive experiences, from contemporary Korean cuisine at Atomix to the farm-to-table ethos at Blue Hill At Stone Barns.” Both of these restaurants are among the new two-star restaurants.

Wallsé named a star for the 15th time

The Wallsé has received its star for the 15th time in a row. The native Austrian Kurt Gutenbrunner opened the restaurant in July 2000 as an elegant Beisel – with a strong Austrian wine list with around 300 labels. “There are 17,000 restaurants in Manhattan. It is always difficult to survive here, but we gave the Americans something that is new. That’s why the concept works, “said the celebrity chef in 2015.
