Klangkosmos concert with Clare Sands in the Kreuzkirche
Modern and traditional music from Ireland
On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 7 p.m., Irish musician Clare Sands will be performing as part of the “Klangkosmos Weltmusik” series at the Kreuzkirche in Herne (Europaplatz 2). Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
An announcement states: “The singer and violinist navigates the legacy of her ancestors’ Irish music with unique power and creativity. She combines traditional music with contemporary sounds and influences and sings for young and old, for the brave and the adventurous.”
She plays more than ten instruments
Although she is still young, the award-winning musician can already look back on an extraordinary and long musical career. During her studies, Clare developed her skills as a bilingual songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist who plays more than ten instruments. A free and fearless spirit, she also enjoys performing with many fellow musicians, such as Hothouse Flowers, Kíla, Brian Finnegan, Mary Coughlan and many others.
In 2022, her first own album “Uncategorized” was released, which earned her a nomination for “Best Folk Singer” at the Irish Folk Awards and Top 5 Folk Album by the Irish Times 2022. After breathtaking performances at the Glastonbury Festival/UK and at Celtic Connections in Glasgow, she opens the 25th season of the Klangkosmos Weltmusik NRW together with the multi-instrumentalist Cian McGrory.
The concert is part of the Fair Week in Herne. The Esperanza World Shop is on site with a selection of fairly traded products. The concert is organized by the One World department of the Evangelical Church District of Herne in cooperation with the Evangelical Church Congregation of Haranni.
