In turn, Engineer Mustafa Mujahid, head of the Qalyubia Drinking Water and Sanitation Company, announced the spread of water suction equipment and vehicles in vital areas of the governorate, explaining that the need to constantly emphasize the readiness of stations, crane pumps and networks, the disinfection of rain drains, the suitability of electric generators, and the availability of petroleum materials necessary to operate the generators and a plan. Deploying the equipment, ensuring that it is operating at full capacity, and the necessity of carrying out periodic and preventive maintenance for all equipment used to confront the rain and making it always ready to deal immediately with emergency situations, in addition to reviewing the concentration points of major extractors near hotspots known for their water accumulations.
Engineer Mustafa Mujahid explained that the level of preparations made by the company to receive the winter and rainy season has been raised, pointing out that the total number of equipment with which the company prepared to receive the rainy season reached about 239 pieces of equipment with various tasks, which are scheduled to be distributed to rainwater collection areas. In various cities at the governorate level, he explained that the length of the governorate’s sewage networks reaches 3,226 km, while the number of sewage treatment stations in the governorate reached 22 stations, and sewage lifting stations reached 193 stations.
He added that the company’s sectors, which include operation and maintenance, the mechanical campaign and emergency, coordinated with the company’s branches in the cities of the governorate, and in coordination with the heads of city councils and the authorities concerned with clearing rain sewers and sewage networks, and implemented a simulation of the readiness and movement of equipment to confront rain and floods in water collection areas and tunnels and how to deal with them. And dispose of them in a specific time and with the required speed, as vacuums, sweeping vehicles, pumps carried on cars, and lifting pumps for tunnels were used.
