The pinnacle of the multi-section, multi-scale model railroad is a replica of Thuringia. In total, there are around 30,000 miniature trees, two kilometers of track and 400 switches on an area of 500 square meters.
Builder has to give up due to health reasons
The builder is Hans-Jörg Stiegler. He opened the facility in 1997. Since then, around 2.5 million visitors have come to marvel at the miniature world, he reports. For health reasons, he must now hand over the system. Stiegler is no longer up to the maintenance of the 12,000 square meter facility.
Sell-off imminent: search for a successor until the end of the year
Stiegler wants to continue looking for a successor until the end of the year. Otherwise there is a threat of sale in individual parts. Instead, he wishes that a successor would receive the system in one piece and that the tourist destination would continue to exist.
