Is the dream of the flying car about to materialize? This is what the Model A of the company Alef Aeronautics intends to achieve, since it has received authorization to be able to take off in the American sky, in a still experimental framework however.
This €300,000 car has already attracted no less than 440 buyers who intend to receive their model firmly in 2025. They are now probably a little more reassured, because if they live in the United States, they will then have the authorization to fly above traffic jams, because the Model A has received flight authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration, the American organization responsible for aeronautical safety.
A first for a flying car. Because yes, the goal of the Model A is to be a vehicle that is both rolling and flying, inspired by the great classics of science fiction. The presentation is also very inspired by the DeLorean from Back to the Future, the car even taking up the iconic opening of the doors of the butterfly car. It is also an electric car with a range of 320 kilometers on the ground.
The propellers are thus located under the “body”, in order to allow a vertical take-off. Once in the air, it is this same body (with the exception of the cockpit), which tilts, to form a single wing (all the same very thick), the machine transforming more or less by propeller plane, with a flight range of 117 kilometers.
Nevertheless, the magazine Presse-Citron says that many questions remain about this model. So no live-action flight demonstration of the car has been released yet, with the potential buyer having to settle for CGI.
