Modder Turns Original ’90s PlayStation Console into Handheld – Pictures and Specifications Revealed

A modder has managed to turn the original ’90s PlayStation console into a handheld. The original PU-18 PS1 motherboard is folded in half to fit into the compact 3D printed housing.

YveltalGriffin shares on the social media platform X and on BitBuilt pictures and specifications of the portable PS1. The mud says that the original motherboard was cut in half and folded. The device should provide a battery life of around 2.5 hours thanks to the 3500mAh battery. The housing is made of white PLA with a 3D printer. The buttons on the front come from the DualShock controller. The rumble has also been moved, but the toes are missing. Save files are stored via PicoMemcard+ with a 16GB microSD card.

The size of the handheld is slightly larger than the size of the PS Vita, as shown on one Picture of the two devices. The poll says there are still problems. For example, there are no volume buttons and the power LED and reset button are still not connected. In addition, the lack of heatsinks ensures that the handset gets warm after a while.

The original PlayStation console, also known as the PS1, was released in Japan at the end of 1994 and appeared in other parts of the world in September 1995.
