Modder makes fully functional ‘GameCube-Joy-Cons’ for the Nintendo Switch – Gaming -. Geeks

A hardware mud has made a set of Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons from a GameCube controller. According to him, the controllers feel exactly like a GameCube controller and have all the buttons and functionalities of Joy-Cons.

To be precise, it is not a standard GameCube controller, but a WaveBird. That is Nintendo’s official, nowadays slightly rare, wireless GameCube controller. This one used the mud, called Shank Mods, because all parts simply fit better. The sense of use of a WaveBird is the same as that of a normal GameCube controller.

However, there are some differences between Joy-Cons and GameCube controllers: Joy-Cons have a second one shoulder button, extra buttons on the front and a gyroscope. Shank Mods has been working on it for months, but eventually made a set of GameCube-Joy-Cons that feel exactly like a GameCube controller, but every Joy-Cons functionality has: batteries, hd rumble, amiibo support, clicky sticks and more.

Shank Mods has a very extensive one build log made the entire process, including a visit to a co-mud and sending the project to another mud for an outsourced part. Please note: he emphasizes that this project was difficult and expensive and is therefore not suitable for a beginner.
