Mobilizations are carried out in US ports to block Israeli cargo ships; San Francisco Teachers Union supports the BDS movement

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement plans a series of mobilizations across the United States, which will include the cities of Seattle, Oakland, Los Angeles and New York, under the banner “Block the Boat.” The objective of the mobilizations is to prevent Israeli cargo ships, owned by the shipping giant Zim, from unloading on US soil. The Zim company transports Israeli weapons as well as consumer goods.

In related news, the San Francisco Teachers Union last month became the first American public elementary and secondary school union to back the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, following bloody Israeli attacks on Gaza.
