Mobilization in Grenoble to Support Arrested Delivery Men and Demand Withdrawal of Asylum and Immigration Law

Around fifty organizations, collectives including Migrants en Isère and the Isère Coordination of Solidarity with Foreign Migrants (Cisem), unions, political parties, collectives of undocumented immigrants are calling for mobilization this Sunday, January 14 “to support the delivery men arrested on December 27” in Grenoble and demand the withdrawal of the asylum and immigration law. The meeting is set for 2:30 p.m., Place Victor-Hugo. A walk to Place de le Cymaise, in the Saint-Laurent district, is planned.

Demonstrations will take place almost everywhere in France this Sunday, January 14 at the call of 400 collectives, associations, unions, political parties demanding the withdrawal of the Darmanin law and against racism and xenophobia.

As a reminder, around ten meal delivery men were arrested in Grenoble, Bourgoin and Vienne at the end of December, as part of an operation to check residence permits. All were in an irregular situation on the territory. This wave of arrests, just after the vote on the immigration law, caused a stir in the capital of the Alps, with the mayor of Grenoble denouncing an “unworthy” operation and unions calling a press conference in support.
