Samsung is the world’s largest manufacturer of memory chips and smartphones. Merged divisions vary in size. The mobile division reported an operating profit of 3.36 trillion won (CZK 64.2 billion) from July to September, while the consumer electronics division reported 760 billion won.

According to analysts, the reorganization could help Samsung deal with the challenges and problems it faces with mobile devices and consumer electronics. These include better interconnection of appliances with home appliances on a platform that would engage and retain customers. Currently, the main problems include the lack of chips, rising raw material prices, logistical difficulties and competition from Apple and Chinese companies.

The Samsung Group focuses on areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, robotics and biopharmaceuticals. It plans to invest 240 trillion won in these areas over the next three years. The group’s flagship is Samsung Electronics, which wants to overtake Taiwan’s TSMC by 2030 and become the largest contracted chip manufacturer.
