The mobile YouTube application will soon see a small, visual change. Following in the footsteps of the version intended for devices working under the control of Android TV, YouTube on smartphones will get a short animation that plays when the program starts.
Twitter user Suvrajyoti Chakraborty was one of the first to announce the change, sharing his discovery:
The new application animation has only appeared for a handful of users so far, which may suggest that it is not ready for a global debut yet.
The new “function” of smartphone YouTube may be associated with a procedure used by streaming services such as Netflix.
Fortunately, the mobile version of the welcome animation has been deprived of the jingle playing in the background. It has also been slightly shortened from its Android TV counterpart. Considering that this will probably play only the first time the program is launched, frequent “juggling” between applications should not become unnecessarily burdensome.
