Vendor cell phone stated that several cellphones on the market were blocked and unable to service cellular. It is caused by Centralized Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) in full condition.
CEO Mito Mobile Hansen said the cellphone industry could experience a recession if it was not immediately addressed.
“This has a huge impact on the continuity of our industry. We could be hit by recession more quickly if this system is not repaired quickly. Even though our cellphones are official. It shouldn’t be blocked,” Hansen said in a written statement, Saturday (10/10).
Hansen said that the blocking of official cellphones and the failure of TPP to input IMEI to CEIR are betting on the life and death of the cellphone industry. Because, he conveyed that the problem was not only experienced by Mito.
“I heard that my fellow national brands are experiencing the same problem. Don’t let us enter the abyss of recession sooner. So we really hope that the related parties will solve this problem as soon as possible,” he said.
Hansen also reminded that the government must have adequate infrastructure if it is to grow the cellphone industry. If not, he said the cell phone industry would be the opposite.
The chairman of the Indonesian Consumers Foundation urged the government to seriously implement the rules that have been made. He worries that the weak implementation of regulations is detrimental to consumers and the industry.
“The CEIR machine is the government’s responsibility, in this case the Ministry of Communication and Information and the Ministry of Industry, if its full capacity must be added,” said Tulus.
Previously, the CEIR system managed by the Ministry of Industry was reportedly almost full. Currently, the Ministry of Industry is said to have asked the CEIR operators to do so cleansing system so that only the active IMEI is registered in the system.
