The basic gameplay isn’t bad: each run consists of a series of levels where you have to dodge obstacles, projectiles and shoot enemies. Boss fights are a matter of course.
The way it works is that when you stop, Lara will automatically shoot. With experience, he gains various power-ups, such as additional missiles, missiles that bounce off walls, and the like. The creators were clearly inspired by the popular Archero, but why not.
The game was released in free 2 play mode, so all those annoying elements with energies and different currencies are included. If you pay for Netflix, you can download a version without in-game purchases, however, it doesn’t look like the authors put much effort into modifying the game, since even this version has all the free 2 play systems (hopefully at least more friendly set up).
And what about Lara on PC and consoles? The good news is that a new, as-yet-untitled game is in the works to continue the existing story. The game will run on Unreal Engine 5 and will be published by Amazon. According to various speculations, we could wait for the official unveiling already this year.
