This is a mobile summer collection, which will take place this Friday, February 2, from 9 in the morning to 12:30 p.m., in the Plaza de Armas of Osorno.
The purpose is to maintain the availability of blood for all users of the Osorno Hospital Blood Bank, who may require a transfusion due to a medical emergency.
In this regard, the medical technologist and person in charge of the Blood Bank, María Teresa Kahler, indicated that these plasma units are always needed, and that without the cooperation of the people, their use would not be possible.
Who can donate? Anyone between 18 and 65 years old can donate; that weighs more than 50 kilos; no risky sexual behavior; that you are in good health and that more than three months have passed since your last donation if you are a man and four months if you are a woman, explained María Teresa Kahler.
It is important to remember that to donate blood you must have your identity card and NOT be fasting. In addition, a selection interview will be carried out; hematocrit will be determined to rule out anemia; Weight, blood pressure and pulse will also be monitored. The entire procedure, from admission to completion, takes around 30 minutes.
