Mobile operators are also feeling the effects of inflation. A1 and Drei are therefore increasing their mobile phone tariffs.
One year after the start of the Ukraine crisis, inflation in Austria remains at a record level. After January set a new record in the current wave of inflation with 11.2 percent, the value in February was still 11 percent, “Heute” reported.
2.4 million A1 users affected
Mobile operators are also feeling the effects of high inflation. The high costs are passed on to customers if this is agreed in the contracts, reports “Der Standard”.
A1 has already announced higher tariffs for April and also informed customers about it. A total of 2.4 million A1 users are affected.
Mobile tariffs up to six euros more expensive
“The monthly adjustment moves on average between about 2.2 to six euros for mobile customers and 2.3 to 4.5 euros per month for fixed-line customers,” it says.
At Drei, too, there will be an average increase of EUR 2.20 per month due to indexation in 2023 for telephone tariffs.
No information from Magenta
Magenta, on the other hand, did not want to provide any information about future price adjustments. However, it is to be expected that customers here will also be affected by more expensive telephone bills.
“Most providers will follow suit here in April or May,” explains Maximilian Schirmer, managing director of the comparison portal Tarife.at, to “Standard”. Specifically, an adjustment is only possible if the mobile phone provider has secured the right in the contract to adjust the amount of the monthly payments to inflation.
