The mobile phone debacle continues: Now the new Motorola Razr has caught ?

Last November Motorola presented the new edition of its legendary Razr folding phone. Watson’s German media partner T-Online reported that the new folding mechanism excited all testers.

Sobering news arrives from the United States, where Motorola is at home. The US tech portal CNET has buttoned the new Razr,

A live show of more than twelve hours started on Thursday to find out whether the innovative Android smartphone could be folded 100,000 times.

The intern of the tech portal did not have to do this in a sweat-inducing hand: Instead, an untiring folding robot, the “FoldBot”, was used.

An eyewitness tells

We let editor Chris Parker, who was involved in the experiment, tell what happened in front of the camera:

“As soon as the test started, we found that the FoldBot had some problems closing the phone completely every time. During our 4 o’clock check I noticed that the hinge was very stiff and couldn’t be closed completely, almost as if something had come loose and blocked. However, after I bent the hinge a few times by hand, it started to loosen a little. It definitely didn’t work as intended, but it was still usable. »

The calamity took its course:

«I tried again to put the Razr back in the FoldBot, but the machine couldn’t overcome the stiffness of the hinge and didn’t want to fold the phone anymore. So we stopped the test at around 27,000 wrinkles on the counter and broke it. »

What a noise! ? ?! This video is not for gadget fans with weak nerves:

The experienced journalist adds that CNET also tested Samsung’s Galaxy Fold with the FoldBot. The Korean folding phone survived 120,000 robot folds before the first signs of damage became apparent.
