Each day, the team of nurses, administrative assistants and social workers board a refitted vehicle with one goal: to provide primary care and diagnostic tests for COVID-19.

Jane Harrison is the coordinator of the mHealth unit launched by Anishnawbe Health Toronto. According to her, the targeted populations would not receive the medical care they need without the presence of the unit.

The mHealth unit, initially created to meet the changing needs of the community during the pandemic, has seen more than 4,000 patients since it opened.

But even when the time comes when the pandemic is over, Harrison says the unit will stay put.

She adds that the unit is helping to solve the problem of access to services for Aboriginal people in Toronto.
