Consider SoC Snapdragon 888 for example. This is chipset which is perfect for playing game and most cell phones gaming in 2021 will use these processors.
However, there is a lot more to smartphone gaming other than the processor. Display performance, battery performance and sound should be better than smartphone the usual.
Take for example the iQOO 7 gaming phone which was released a few days ago. Apart from the SoC Snapdragon 888, this smartphone comes with a full-sensing control system that is not owned by ordinary smartphones. Latest report from @DigitalChatStation suggests that this year’s gaming phones will focus on battery life and fast charging.
The Chinese leaker lists three upcoming phones and their battery specifications as follows:
– Black Shark 4 – 120W + dual cell 4,500 mAh equivalent
– Red Magic 6 – 120W + dual cell 4,500 mAh equivalent
– ROG 4 – 60W / 65W + 6,000 mAh equivalent double cell
The battery capacity is large enough and the user will fully charge the cell in just 20 minutes. Even the ROG 4 with 60W / 65W fast charging for 6,000 mAh battery can still be fully charged in 20 minutes as it is a dual cell battery.
For iQOO 7, the only cell phone gaming on the market so far, following the same trend. The smartphone comes with a 4,000 mAh battery but the “small” battery size is compensated for by 120W fast charging.
According to recent tests, the iQOO 7 is fully charged (from 1-100%) in just 14 minutes. Within 5 minutes, the smartphone gets more than 50% charge, which is quite interesting.
The processor isn’t the only feature that classifies a smartphone as a gaming phone. Looking at iQOO 7, the cellphone comes with a screen full-sensing 120Hz, with 1000Hz instant touch sampling rate and 300Hz touch reporting rate. It also supports four application scenarios refresh rate.
Maximum brightness can be up to 1300 nits and supports 4096 levels of brightness adjustment. Apart from that, cell phones gaming it is SGS equipped low blue light and HDR10 + certification high dynamic range. All of these are features that many regular phones lack (non-game).
Page Giz China writes, another selling point of the phone is its full sensing control system. The full sensor control system includes dual control pressure sensors under the display, dual line motors, as well speaker double. Among them, the dual control pressure sensitivity below the screen can map the two screen operating areas to any position in the game according to user preferences.
