Mohamed Salah set two records in a sensational 7-0 win Liverpool above Manchester United in Premier League at Anfield, Sunday (5/3).
First, Mohamed Salah managed to break the record as Liverpool’s top scorer in the Premier League. He replaced the name of Liverpool legend, Robbie Fowler.
Before the Liverpool vs MU match at Anfield, Sunday (5/3) began, Salah was only one goal behind Robbie Fowler as Liverpool’s record holder for most goals. This note was finally successfully passed by Salah in the match against MU.
Salah’s first goal in the 66th minute through a hard kick that made the ball nestle in the right corner of the goal was the goal that led Salah to equal Fowler’s goal record. Salah then officially held the record alone 17 minutes later.
Salah successfully took advantage of the chaos in the penalty box to score against David de Gea. This goal made Salah now score 129 goals for Liverpool in the Premier League.
In addition, Mo Salah became the first player in Liverpool’s history to be able to score in six consecutive matches against Manchester United in all competitions. The six-game streak started with a duel in the FA Cup on January 25 2021.
Since then, Mohamed Salah has successfully scored 11 goals against Manchester. Including the duel at Anfield yesterday, Salah scored two goals against MU three times in that time.
Mo Salah’s best score in this period was when he scored a hat trick in a 5-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, 24 October 2021.
This 7-0 win over Manchester United made Liverpool even closer to the top four zone. Now Liverpool is in fifth position with a collection of 42 points.
Liverpool are only three points behind Tottenham Hotspur but the Reds still have one more game remaining.
