MNP – Seed of Life: A partnership to restore protected areas

When signing the partnership agreement between the two parties.

The NGO Graine de Vie, specialized in the field of reforestation with a strong presence in Madagascar and Africa, has just signed a partnership agreement with Madagascar National Parks (MNP). The objective is to strengthen the protection, preservation and restoration of protected areas under the management of its partner. This marks a crucial step in the conservation of Madagascar’s biodiversity and in the fight against deforestation. The projects carried out jointly by the two parties thus aim to restore ecosystems, raise awareness among local communities by involving them in their implementation while setting up nurseries in the surrounding areas. This approach helps provide local populations with alternative wood resources for their domestic fuel. This will help reduce pressure on forests inside national parks. Planting forest trees is also encouraged with the aim of improving food security and the livelihoods of communities residing around protected areas. Thanks to this partnership agreement, Graine de Vie will be even more actively engaged in the forest restoration of protected areas and national parks managed by MNP. Both parties reaffirm their commitment to conserving the unique and endemic biodiversity of the Big Island over the long term. The presidents of Graine de Vie Belgium and Luxembourg, Frédéric Debouche and Edouard Lambrechts and the interim CEO of MNP, Hariniaina Léon Razafindralaisa, attended this event.
