MMA Twitter rocked by Derrick Lewis’ short height (Photos)

MMA’s Twitter was rocked by a photo of Derrick Lewis, who appears to have lost a significant amount of weight.

UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis doesn’t look like a heavyweight right now. A photo of Lewis running has started circulating on Twitter, taken from fitness instructor Chris Hernandez’s Instagram story, which shows a transformed Lewis, who has lost a significant amount of weight.

Prior to his fight against Sergei Spivak on Feb. 4, Lewis’ weight loss piqued the interest of the MMA community. Fans reacted to Lewis’ noticeable weight loss on Twitter.

Needless to say, weight loss is good for Lewis. Not only does this allow him to be more agile in the Octagon, but it would help a lot with his history of back issues. In 2018, Lewis revealed that his back pain was a factor in his TKO loss to Mark Hunt in 2017. The same year, his fight with Fabricio Werdum was canceled due to the same back problems.

Ahead of his 2020 win over Curtis Blaydes, Lewis told MMAFighting.com, “I definitely need to lose 15 or 20 pounds to be comfortable in that, and you’re definitely going to see something scary from me, that’s for sure.”

Lewis went 0-2 against Tai Tuivasa and Sergei Pavlovich in 2022. But if this recently tweeted photo of Lewis is any indication, it’s that he’s highly motivated for his next fight. Don’t let her last two performances fool you. Lewis still holds the most KO/TKO victories in UFC history. If he’s as excited as fans think, expect him to add another one to his roster of him and follow it up with a memorable post-fight interview to kick off 2023.
