AUSTIN (AP) — MLS reinstated suspended striker Cecilio Dominguez on Wednesday after a nearly month-long investigation into a reported dispute with his partner.
The Paraguayan missed five games while the league and Austin police investigated. Details of the findings were not immediately released, but the league said both inquiries have ended.
Dominguez is eligible to return to activities with the Austin team as long as he participates in mandatory therapy, the league determined.
Austin is second in the Western Conference heading into Sunday’s game against the LA Galaxy, and with Dominguez’s return, the team will once again have one of its best possible rosters on the floor.
The 27-year-old was among the team’s first acquisitions, joining from Argentine club Independiente as Austin’s first Designated Player. Dominguez has nine goals in two seasons with Austin, including two this season before his suspension.
