The New York Red Bulls of Austrian trainer Gerhard Struber start the new season of Major League Soccer (MLS) with a defeat on the first day of the game. In the home game against Sporting Kansas City, despite the lead, they went 1: 2 bankruptcy.
The 17-year-old super talent Caden Clark takes the lead with a wonderful volley into the Kreuzeck in the 48th minute. Red Bulls newcomer Gutman owed a hand penalty in the 58th minute, which Kinda sank to equalize in the 59th minute. Salzburg loan Carlos Coronel is in the right corner, but can no longer fend off the ball.
Salloi ensures the victory of the team from Missouri just two minutes after the equalizer: A flat cross from Shelton goes to the second post to the Hungarian striker, who only has to hold out his foot.
ÖFB legionnaire Daniel Royer comes on in the 72nd minute, but can no longer avert the defeat. The Salzburg loans Coronel and Youba Diarra each make their starting eleven debuts. While the Brazilian played through in the “Bulls” goal, Diarra was substituted in the 54th minute.

Struber satisfied with performance
“The good thing is, the team never gave up, we created some chances, we had a few good moments and in the end it was a disappointing game with this result,” Struber sums up after the game. “In the end we lost our concentration for three minutes. In these three minutes Kansas City took their chances and were lucky with the penalty,” said the Salzburg man, who was disappointed with the defeat but is satisfied with his team’s performance.
Next Sunday (11:30 p.m. CET) Struber and Co. will have their first away game of the season at Los Angeles Galaxy.
Ex-Rapidler Robert Beric played with a goal and an assist in the 2-2 draw between Chicago Fire and New England Revolution.
