MLS: Atlanta player suspended for homophobic comments

On Saturday, Major League Soccer (MLS) suspended Atlanta United midfielder Santiago Sosa for three games on charges of making homophobic remarks.

Circuit Garber also imposed a fine on Santiago Sosa, the amount of which was not disclosed. The alleged events would have taken place during his team’s game against the New England revolution on 1is October.

Sosa will also have to attend training sessions related to the LGBTQ + community.

With the elimination of Atlanta from the playoffs, the disqualification will be imposed on Sosa in the last game of the season on Sunday against New York City FC, as well as in the first two games of the 2023 season.
