MLB: Vladimir Guerrero and Aaron Judge exchange bombs in Yankees victory

Judge Aaron hit his 41st home run of the season Saturday to power the New York Yankees to an 8-3 victory against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Anthony Volpe etc Trent Grisham also hit two-run homers from José Berríos (9-9) to help Carlos Rodón (12-7) win his third straight start, after going 0-5 in the previous six.

Volpe and Austin Wells the Yankees made another run on singles.

For the Jays, Vladimir Guerrero hit his 22nd home run of the year in the first inning. He currently has the best batting times of the season. He almost managed a carousel, but came within three times of the trick.

Guerrero was hitless in his 16th straight game, a streak in which he threw 31 balls safely, including nine home runs. He has a .525 batting average in 16 games.

Toronto’s next two runs were scored in the sixth inning on a singleAlejandro Kirk.

On a roll, Judge has six home runs in his last eight games.

“He’s the best hitter in major league baseball. It’s a sight to see every at-bat,” Rodón said.

“We must not take this for granted. We have to try to appreciate what we have from time to time,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said.

“He belongs to another department. He can change the situation of a game in one motion,” Blue Jays manager John Schneider said.

The Yankees scored at least five runs for the eighth straight game, their first since September 2021.

Gerrit Cole (3-2) will return to the mountain in the third and final game of this series, Sunday. The Yankees ace missed the start due to fatigue.

Rookie Yariel Rodríguez (1-4) will be the starting center for the Jays, who won the first game by a score of 8-5 on Friday.
