The presidente Joe Biden, who was invited to throw the first ball by the Washington Nationals, will not attend the appointment on the Opening Day 2021 of the MLB when the team from the United States capital opens the season against the New York Mets.
The office of the Nationals did not explain why President Biden will skip the invitation., according to Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post, which was done since last November 7.
President Biden will not be throwing out the first pitch at Opening Day at Nationals Park Thursday. When asked, Nats confirmed he will not throw out the first pitch, but a spokeswoman said “We look forward to welcoming President Biden to Nationals Park in the future.”

Joe Biden did the ceremonial pitch of a game in the 2009 season when he served as vice president under Barack Obama. The ceremony was prior to a game between Yankees and Orioles en el Orioles Park at Camden Yards.
The tradition of United States presidents throwing the first ball in Washington dates back to 1910 when William Howard Taft first did so. From then on, all the presidents, except Donald Trump, were invited and made the throw of the first ball by the Washington DC team.
