In-season games in Paris had been part of MLB and the Players Association’s agreement in March 2022.
The MLB canceled plans to hold a game of regular season in Paris in 2025 after it failed to find a promoter, two people with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press on Thursday.
The people spoke on condition of anonymity after the owners’ meeting because they have not made the decision public.
The MLB and the Players Association agreed to the Paris games in March 2022 as part of the labor treatment and they incorporated it into the agreement collective agreement. The person with knowledge of the decision said it was apparent in recent months that there was no progress toward the games taking place.
The MLB played a game in London for the first time in 2019 when the New York Yankees swept the two-game series against the Boston Red Sox in the Olympic Stadium of the West Ham. The 2020 series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and they split the two-game series last June. The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies played another series on June 8 and 9, 2024.
Regular season games will soon be played in Seoul, South Korea for the first time when the Los Angeles Dodgers open the season against the San Diego Padres there on March 20-21. The Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies will play in Mexico City on April 27 and 28.
The CBA includes a game to open the 2025 season in Tokioas well as regular season duels in the Mexico City y San Juan, Puerto Rico. By 2026 there will be duels in LondonMexico City and San Juan.
