MKEK Decides Terawan to be Permanently Dismissed, PB IDI Has 28 Days to Execute

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The results of the special session of the Honorary Council for Medical Ethics (MKEK) decided to permanently dismiss the former Minister of Health, Dr. dr. Terawan Agus Putranto from the membership of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI).

The decision was read out at the 31st IDI Congress in Banda Aceh City, Aceh, Friday (25/3/2022).

“Decided, determined, continued the results of the MKEK special session meeting which decided the permanent dismissal of Dr. dr. Terawan Agus Putranto’s colleague as a member of IDI,” said the chairman of the Presidium of the Abdul Azis Session, in Jakarta, Sunday (28/3/2022), quoted from Between.

Abdul Azis mentioned that the dismissal was done by PB IDI no later than 28 working days.

“This ruling came into effect from the date set,” said Abdul Azis.

Previously, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Aceh Safrizal Rahman said that the recommendation to terminate Terawan from IDI membership was the result of evaluating the performance of the previous management.

“Stop recommendation Doctor Terawan it’s not a new product at the congress in Aceh, but it was discussed for a long time at the last congress,” said Safrizal when confirmed Kompas.com by telephone, Saturday (26/3/2022).

Safrizal explained that the recommendation for Terawan’s dismissal was the result of a recommendation at the congress in Samarinda three years ago. However, the previous PB IDI management did not execute the recommendation.

“This recommendation has not been implemented by the previous IDI management, so yesterday it was re-evaluated so that the management carried out the results of the decision,” he said.

“The evaluation of the previous congress recommendation has not been carried out, so it is evaluated for the new management,” said Safrizal.

Safrizal was reluctant to explain MKEK’s considerations in recommending the ex-minister of health to be permanently dismissed from IDI.

“If you want clarity regarding that, please confirm with the General Chairperson of PB IDI,” he said.
