“Mixer: Journey through Italy’s Years of Lead with Francesca Mambro and Valerio Fioravanti”

After the interview with Alberto Franceschini, the journey of “Mixer. Twenty years of television” in the terrorism of the years of lead with a special episode of 1991: the protagonists are the terrorists of the Revolutionary Armed Nuclei Francesca Mambro and Valerio Fioravanti, and the latter’s father. Space was also given to the news of April 30, 1993, with the throwing of coins to Bettino Craxi outside the Raphaël hotel, where the “Mixer” camera was present with the reporter Valeria Coiante; a day that became a symbol of the Mani Pulite investigation and of the end of the First Republic.
In the episode – also broadcast on Wednesday 10 May in prime time on Rai Storia – Giovanni Minoli proposes the Face to face in prison with the two leaders of the Nar, who had married in 1985. Together with that of Francesca Mambro – from the blow thunderbolt for Fioravanti at the age of 16 when he was arrested on 5 March 1982 – the parable of Valerio Fioravanti, as a child prodigy in the television drama “The Benvenuti family” is retraced – with the testimony of Edwige Fenech, who was next to him in the film “Thank you grandmother” – a leader of black subversion, at the head of a formation which, in terms of the number of homicides, is second only to the Red Brigades. A story that starts from his political militancy in the Italian Social Movement, where he will meet Francesca, with whom he will share the years of terror and then of detention, up to the murder in 1978 of the Lotta Continua militant Roberto Scialabba, his first victim , and to his arrest in January 1981 after being seriously injured following the killing of two carabinieri. Between confessions, budgets and perspectives, Fioravanti also addresses the relationship with his parents and with his brother Cristiano, who was also a participant in many attacks, before becoming a key witness for the prosecution in many trials. Fioravanti’s father, Mario, comments on his son’s words in the studio with Minoli, recounting the contrasts and differences and the drama of a generation of parents of terrorists.
