Mixed martial arts athlete Choi Hong-man confessed to living in seclusion and opened up about an incident of assault on a woman.
Choi Hong-man, who appeared on Channel A’s entertainment program ‘Oh Eun-young’s Golden Counseling Center’ on the 20th, said, “I was almost exclusively in the mountains. That’s how I spent my time.”
Choi Hong-man, who has been living in seclusion in Jeju Island for the first time in 5 to 6 years since appearing on TV, confessed, “I feel at ease not seeing malicious comments, but people around me talk about it. That’s stressful.”
Choi Hong-man said that he is in the best physical condition in the last 10 years and that he wants to play more games. In fact, he said that he had been living in seclusion for about 8 years, not 5 years, and confessed the reason for his hesitation to return, saying, “I am afraid of receiving attention. I am afraid of the attention that will pour in when I start working. In the past, I liked people and lived without hesitation.”
When asked if there was a special incident, Choi Hong-man said, “Nothing like that. As the wounds I received from people accumulated, I kept my distance and started avoiding people,” and also said that the reason was his body type that could not be hidden.

He continued, “Because I’m big, I can hear everything other people say. I hear things like ‘XX is big’ and ‘What’s he doing?’, but only negative things stick in my ears. I was wondering where to go, and ended up going to Jeju Island.”
Choi Hong-man also responded to the ‘rumors of assault on women’ by saying, “It was when I was running a bar in Seoul. The theme was a hunting bar where men and women could meet freely. Drinks were added to the price if people sat together, but the men ran away because they didn’t like the women. So the women ran away. “I was angry and got drunk while drinking. He pulled my clothes to ask me to do something, but I naturally shook him off and reported it to the police. I never hit him,” he said.
He said, “I told it like it was and it was covered up naturally, but the article only said that I hit someone and did not say anything about the ending. (The feeling of injustice) is inevitable. At the time, there were a lot of questions asking, ‘Did you really hit me?'”
When Oh Eun-young asked, “Is that incident related to public avoidance?” Choi Hong-man added, “That was the first time I interacted with ordinary people. I think that incident was the beginning (of public avoidance).”
