Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross: with the restyling comes the Plug-in version

The new Eclipse Cross represents a true technological and design evolution of the current model and the introduction of PHEV technology is in line with Mitsubishi’s mission to combine the adventurous tradition of SUVs with modern electric motor technologies. The decision to introduce a plug-in hybrid version responds to the increasingly evident demand for alternative mobility, also confirmed by the success recorded by Mitsubishi in the PHEV category in Europe. Mitsubishi Motors Italia reaffirms its presence on the Italian market by adding this new model to the current offer, capable of intercepting a new type of customer thanks to the wealth of its equipment.

NEW DESIGN


The design has been revised to give a more elegant and sporty look. In particular, at the level of the front, the new bumper protection and the new headlight design give the Eclipse Cross greater dynamism. At the rear, on the other hand, the tailgate and rear window have been redesigned to ensure better visibility. The three-dimensional taillights typical of this model now extend upwards and inwards. The new tailgate features a hexagonal design.

Moving on to the interiors, thecockpit features black upholstery with silver accents and light gray leather seats. On the technology front, the new Smartphone-Link Display Audio System (SDA) 8-inch. The screen has been moved closer to the driver and front passenger for easier use. The touchpad, previously used for several functions, has been eliminated to gain more space in the center console.

POWERTRAIN PLUG-IN


The biggest novelty is thearrival of a Plug-in powertrain derived strictly from that of the Outlander PHEV. The architecture consists of two electric motors, one front and one rear, a high-capacity traction battery and a 2.4-liter MIVEC engine, with single-speed planetary gearbox. The system automatically selects one of three driving modes to adapt the car to different conditions. Traction is integral. The power values, consumption and performance were not disclosed (In the Outlander PHEV the powertrain offers 224 hp / 165 kW).

Peculiarity, the traction battery can be used as an energy source for outdoor activities or in an emergency, as it provides up to 1,500 watts of power from an onboard electrical outlet. When the vehicle is fully recharged and refueled, it can supply energy to a home for up to 10 days using the innovative Vehicle-to-Home system. The new Eclipse Cross will also be available with the MIVEC turbo 1.5 liter engine four-cylinder and direct injection.
