Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announced earlier this summer that it would freeze the development and launch of new models for sale in Europe over the next three years.
The bestseller disappears
Today, however, the Norwegian importer of Mitsubishi (MMC Norge AS) says that the new rechargeable hybrid ECLIPSE CROSS PHEV will still be available for sale at Norwegian dealers as early as 2021.
Eclipse Cross has been on the market for a few years already, but at the same time as a facelift, it will for the first time also be available as a rechargeable hybrid.
The front design is new, a new front bumper protection and an updated LED light setup both front and rear, as well as a new rear design, it differs from the model that has barely sold in Norway until now.
Inside, there are also new colors and material choices, but the most important thing is that a new 8-inch smartphone link sound system that has been moved closer to the driver is delivered as standard.
Great car – but it’s a catch … or two
The touchpad that was previously used for more functions has been removed to provide more storage space in the center console.
Drive line from Outlander
Eclipse Cross in rechargeable version is equipped with the same twin-engine 4WD PHEV system as the Outlander that disappears. The system consists of two powerful electric motors; one in front and one behind. In addition, it has a large-capacity propulsion battery and a 2.4-liter MIVEC engine along with a continuously variable transmission.
In other words, it is four-wheel drive, which is important for many buyers.
A fine-tuned wheel suspension together with upgraded rear shocks provides a clear improvement in maneuvering the car.
– We have for many years had great success with the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV in Norway, and we are confident that the rechargeable Eclipse Cross PHEV is also a car that will hit very well here at home. We look forward to getting started with the sale “, says Rune Gjerstad, CEO of MMC Norway
