Mitsubishi boss admits he didn’t expect Xpander to beat the new Avanza

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Sales of the Mitsubishi Xpander at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2021 were able to beat its rival, the Toyota Avanza. Xpander recorded more than 2,230 vehicle orders (SPK) or 85% of Mitsubishi’s total sales, while Avanza only recorded SPK of 1,534 units.

“Of course we really appreciate Indonesian consumers for their trust and enthusiasm for the Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia brand. The results achieved at GIIAS 2021 are very good results and beyond expectations,” said PT Mitsubishi Motors President Director Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) Naoya Nakamura to CNBC Indonesia, Tuesday (30/11/21).

He claims that this is proof that the Mitsubishi and Xpander brands are loved and cared for by their customers in Indonesia. The Mitsubishi boss also revealed that the record was an encouragement for him.

Moreover, Mitsubishi also just launched the New Xpander in early November. This car is the backbone of MMKSI in future sales. However, Nakamura didn’t want to talk much about the target.

“However, we have not been able to provide a sales target figure. For now we will secure as many production units as possible so that customers can enjoy 100% PPnBM incentives that are valid until the end of December 2021. We hope that sales can continue to increase and of course provide the best for Indonesian consumers, ” said Nakamura.
