Kyriakos Mitsotakis returned to Athens on Sunday evening after the big fire that broke out in Varnavas and spread to many other areas. A little while ago, the Prime Minister visited the Single Coordination Center for Operations and Crisis Management (ESKEDIK) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection to be informed, according to government sources, about the progress of the fire.
According to the same sources, from the beginning when the fire broke out, Kyriakos Mitsotakis was in communication with the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilia, who was in the “lighthouse” building of the Civil Protection in the evening.
It is noted that in today’s meetings at Maximos, government representative Pavlos Marinakis and Deputy Prime Minister Giorgos Mylonakis will be present in addition to the Prime Minister.
All this at a time when the fiery nightmare in Attica, after the fire that broke out on Sunday in Varnavas Attica, is burning uncontrollably, reaching as far as Mount Pentelikos. The huge front that is burning northeastern Attica exceeds 20 km.
The fire is burning out of control while strong winds are not expected to stop until at least 4pm today, according to the ominous forecasts of meteorologists.
