Mitsotakis for European elections: The June ballot will have a national imprint – 2024-04-03 18:59:47

A call to New Democracy voters to “turn out” at the polls of the European elections and support the government, addressed Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his message that was read during the anniversary event organized tonight in Patras by the party’s Achaia Electoral District Steering Committee , on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the ND, where the keynote speaker was the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias.

“The June ballot will have a national footprint. Judging whether the country will remain stable and on a path of progress in an unstable environment in the world and in our region. At the same time, however, then it will be decided whether everything we have achieved and are achieving every day, will have continuity. At a time when there is no turning back. And it leaves no room for mistakes and experiments,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

In fact, he did not fail to inform the citizens that “it is not a time for complacency and inaction, for thoughts of abstinence or sending frivolous messages of protest”.

“We already feel these things and we respond to them, trying to become better”, as he said, arguing that “these are hours of struggle and rallying. Much more, when in front of us we have an opposition of chaos and impasse. Of misery and division”.

“In this faction we are all soldiers, armed with truth, responsibility and persuasion. Without denying weaknesses, but also responding with facts to the unjust accusations”, Mr. Mitsotakis argued, saying that this is “something we will need, marching towards the European elections”, which he characterized as “a doubly crucial battle”.

The message of Kyriakos Mitsotakis

Dear President and members of the Steering Committee,

New Democrats of our Achaia,

I warmly welcome your event for the 50th anniversary of our faction. An anniversary that coincides with the completion of half a century since the restoration of Democracy in the country, led by our founder Konstantinos Karamanlis. Your presence in it today, I am sure, will convey the pulse of the faction throughout the Peloponnese. And from there, to every corner of Greece.

It is an occasion to look back, at the starting point and the path our party has traveled until now. To feel proud of our successes, but also to learn from our failures. With the benefit of experience, let’s look at everything that made us the strongest center-right force on the continent. But also the party with the biggest offer in our country.

The party that put our country in the European family and kept it there when it was in danger of making disastrous choices. Which kept her standing in successive difficulties she encountered: from the immigration invasions in the Evros to the three-year pandemic. And from the challenges of our neighbors in the Aegean, to the international energy crisis and the natural disasters caused by the Climate Crisis.

This is the New Democracy, which made the Greece of 2024 have one of the highest growth rates and single-digit unemployment. Which props up income with permanent support in wages and pensions and by constantly raising dams on imported precision. Just yesterday, after all, the fourth consecutive increase in the minimum wage and the 18 benefits associated with it was announced.

A dynamic and spacious faction, which brings together all citizens who believe in the patriotism of responsibility and the modernization of creation. Those who want our country to overcome the pathogens of decades that hold it back. And, with reforms, to improve everyday life in all fields. And mainly in the Economy, Health, Education and the operation of the State.

It is the New Republic that keeps our borders armored and our national defense as strong as ever with modern equipment and means. Which strengthens the Greek voice abroad. While at home he sees to it that growth increases the public wealth. So that all citizens can have a share in it. And the goal by 2027 is for the average salary in the country to be 1,500 and the basic salary 950 euros.

In this faction we are all soldiers, armed with truth, responsibility and persuasion. Without denying weaknesses. But also by answering the unjust accusations with evidence. Something we will need, marching towards the European elections. A doubly critical battle. Not only because claims for more funds, especially for our farmers, await us in Brussels.

But also why the June ballot will have a national imprint. Judging whether the country will remain stable and on a path of progress in an unstable environment in the world and in our region. At the same time, however, it will then be decided whether everything we have achieved and are achieving every day will have continuity. In a situation that allows no turning back. And it leaves no room for mistakes and experiments.

It is therefore not a time for complacency and inaction. For thoughts of abstaining or sending frivolous protest messages. We feel these, already, and we respond to them, trying to become better. On the contrary, they are hours of struggle and rallying. Much more, when in front of us we have an opposition of chaos and impasse. Of misery and division.

I invite you, therefore, to fight this battle together in the name of the 50 years of the honored New Democracy. Let each of us become the voice of the faction in cities and villages. And every friend of hers should rally to a national goal: Greece to remain safe and secure. Far from adventures. And to continue walking on the path of collective development and individual advancement.

Happy birthday New Democracy! Happy birthday Greece! Let’s go together for another victory!
