Scabies infestations
This year the reports fluctuate between 15 and 20 per 100,000 inhabitants. Over the past four years, the number of reports at the same time of year has been at a significantly lower level. At that time, between 5 and 10 people per 100,000 inhabitants reported to the family doctor with scabies every week.
Nivel also mapped the rising number of scabies infections in november. At the time, the Institute indicated that it mainly played a signaling role and did not conduct further research into causes.
Allergic reaction
Scabies is also called scabies. The infectious disease is quite harmless, but annoying. The culprit is the scabies mite. The tiny creature digs passages into the skin and lays eggs there. Due to an allergic reaction to the mite, people get a lot of itching. “It can occur all over the body,” writes the National Institute for Public Health and the environment (RIVM) about it. “On the skin, blisters and red bumps can form, for example between the fingers, wrists and feet,” according to the Institute.
You can get scabies through close contact with someone who has it. “As with physical care, sexual contact or through the joint use of bed, clothing, dress-up clothes and stuffed animals”, explains RIVM. The skin condition does not pass just like that, but must be combated with special Cr ummmes or tablets.
