Reuters Mitch McConnell freezes again

The Republican faction leader in the US Senate Mitch McConnell was speechless for the second time in a few weeks and froze during a press conference. The 81-year-old politician remained silent for more than half a minute and seemed to stare into space after being asked if he wanted to stand for re-election.
At first he doesn’t seem to be able to hear the question very well. When the question is asked again, it freezes. A spokesman asked him if he had heard the question and then it remained silent. On X, formerly Twitter, is a fragment of the incident.
Something similar happened last month. During his weekly press conference, he remained silent for nearly half a minute, staring straight ahead. The press conference was shut down and McConnell was taken away. Soon after, he resumed the meeting.
A direct aide to the Republican leader later clarified that McConnell felt momentarily light-headed during the press conference.
Last March, McConnell suffered a concussion and broke several ribs in an accidental fall, prompting questions about his health. After a period in the hospital and rehabilitation, he was able to return to the Senate in April.
